Pakistan Bible Society pays tribute to former General Secretary
Mr Khokhar came to faith while working for Burma Shell, and in 1971 left this company to become the first national General Secretary of the Pakistan Fellowship of Evangelical Students. This early ministry included running youth camps, leadership training courses, Bible study groups, seminars and retreats. He joined the Bible Society in 1980 and went on to contribute extensively to the growth of the work of the Bible Societies worldwide, according to Mr Lamuel. He held a number of positions within the United Bible Societies fellowship, as well as serving on the boards of several Christian organisations in Pakistan. Even after he retired in 1997, he was involved with the translation of the Matthew Henry Commentary on the Bible into Urdu. He never ceased to regard himself as, in his own words, a soldier of Jesus, and his example greatly influenced many people who are now in leadership roles in churches and Christian organisations in Pakistan and elsewhere.
