Scriptures for young offendersYoung offenders also received Scriptures through Opportunity 21 earlier this year. The IBSR visited Craiova prison, which houses hundreds of boys and young men, to distribute 250 copies of the Short Bible and 250 copies of the New Testament to the inmates, whose faces showed the appreciation they felt. Many of them feel isolated and lost and were surprised at the Bible Society’s interest in their situation. After visiting the prisoners in their cells, the IBSR went to the prison school, where classes were in progress. Teaching the boys were members of the Women’s Orthodox Association, who teach religious instruction as well as other subjects. They were glad to receive the Bible Society’s Scriptures, which will be used in their lessons. (SR 27/9 - 11.01) |
