Under the trees outside the huge church, several benches had been arranged to sit the many expected guests, and a neatly-arranged dais had been erected very early that morning to accommodate the various dignitaries. And as the congregations also displayed the diversity of their church costumes, the local choirs added to the beauty and splendour of the occasion.
In procession, and marching to the rhythm of the 'Radio Choir' – so named because of its renowned Swahili performances on national radio – the whole congregation then joined in a time of worship in both Lunyore and Swahili, giving thanks for the Scriptures, the fervour of the singing matched only by the rhythmic swaying of the choir. It was obvious that the Abanyore Christians were thrilled to have the New Testament in their heart language. (WR 318/12 - 3.97)
