Christian Satellite TV Station
to Produce Discipleship Series

BRISTOL, England — SAT-7, the Christian television station serving mainly Arab viewers in the Middle East and North Africa, is to make a major new series on the subject of discipleship.

Entitled Seekers and Disciples, the series will run to 104 parts and provide Bible-based teaching enhanced by drama presentations. It will begin by answering questions about Christian beliefs and practices before covering the basic doctrines of the Christian faith. It will later move on to discipleship issues such as the believer’s relationship with God and the Church, and living the Christian life.

In a statement, SAT-7 said the series would offer “a shop window on the Christian faith and reflect an authentically Arab expression of Christianity”. “Our aim is to communicate a Christian world view, Christian attitudes and Christian values in an attractive and convincing way that is completely relevant to a Middle Eastern audience,” said SAT-7 Chief Executive Terence Ascott. The first programmes in the new series will be completed by the end of the year.

SAT-7 was founded in 1995 by more than 20 Christian agencies and churches including the United Bible Societies. It is run mainly by Middle Eastern Christians and works with all the major denominations in the area. Transmissions began in May 1996. e-114 (WR 355/25 -11.00)
