True Peace Portion in Demand in Middle East

JERUSALEM, IsraelThe True Peace – a Scripture Portion published last year by the Palestinian Bible Society (PBS) and the Bible Society in Israel – is impacting communities searching for answers in the midst of continued bloodshed in the region. Thousands of people responded to a month-long advertising campaign in three major Palestinian newspapers in November and requested copies of the Portion. One of the newspapers ran the quarter-page advert for The True Peace alongside photographs showing injured people and destroyed buildings in the Gaza area. In three weeks, 500 non-Christians visited the Bible bookshop in Gaza in search of a copy. The Bible Society has also distributed the new Scripture to people who have been injured in the violence. “Huge numbers of young people were injured in the eruption of violence…and we wanted to go and show them compassion and care and tell them about someone who believed in the positive power for change,” said Labib Madanat, PBS Executive Secretary. Thousands of copies have been distributed through a local correspondence ministry. (WR 358/22 - 03.01) e-126
