MONROVIA, Liberia A car crash in Liberia on January 12 claimed the life of Nancy Lightfoot, the Translation Co-ordinator on the Klao Bible translation project. One other person in the car was also killed. Humphrey Kumeh, a Methodist pastor and head translator on the Klao project, was badly injured and the driver was left in a coma. Dr Lynell Zogbo, a UBS Translation Consultant based in Côte dIvoire, who knew Ms Lightfoot for more than 20 years, said her life had been one of dedication to the cause of the Klao Bible translation. I can only conclude that God has decided to call her to himself, she said. I thank him for this life of energy, love and dedication. Born and educated in Michigan, Ms Lightfoot was a long-serving missionary with the United Methodist Church. She went to Israel in 1989 to study Hebrew and related subjects in preparation for the work of translating the Old and New Testaments into the Klao language. (WR 358/32 - 03.01) e-127
