Sharing God’s Word through
bread wrappers

SENEGAL — Bread vendors in this West African nation are helping to share God’s Word with thousands of Sereer speakers through a project initiated by missionaries from the International Mission Board, a Southern Baptist Convention agency. The Bread of Life project has supplied one million bread wrappers printed with a special logo free of charge for vendors. Customers then use each wrapper to redeem one of 14 prizes – Bible stories and Scripture verse cards in the Sereer language – from distribution booths manned by evangelists and pastors. The booths are usually located near open-air markets in towns and villages. Each Scripture prize includes a study sheet for customers to fill out and return to the distribution point. Those who do so earn points towards more free Scriptures. Once a participant has completed 14 study sheets, the Bread of Life project organises a showing of the Jesus film in his or her village.
