...and FCBH in India set to expand

The FCBH program is rapidly growing in India — this year alone, more than 2,000 new listening groups have been started and there are plans to start 25,000 more by the end of 2004. In addition, audio Scriptures in the languages of Gujarati, Oriya, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Marathi, Urdu, Punjabi and Banjara will be recorded and made available over the next four years, with funds from Hosanna and O-21, the UBS global Scripture development initiative.

Although current listenership is estimated at around 518,000, the figure only includes participants in church listening sessions and does not take into account the fact that many churches also play the tapes over loud speakers for the surrounding community to hear.

Soon, even more people across the country will be able to hear God’s Word – plans are afoot to broadcast 15 minutes of the dramatised Telugu Bible each day on Trans World Radio throughout next year.

FCBH is a joint program of the Bible Society of India and Hosanna Minstries, who have set up a separate body, Beulah Ministries, to co-ordinate the distribution of Scripture cassettes and oversee the work of the FCBH distributors. The BSI has employed two FCBH managers.
