ABS
in Scripture distribution
at Winter Olympics
NEW YORK, USA Nearly 60,000
Scripture CD-ROMs and more than 10,000 special commemorative Bibles
were provided by the American Bible Society
(ABS) for distribution to athletes and sports enthusiasts during the
Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, held from February 8-22. The distribution
was undertaken through the More Than Gold partnership, made up
of churches and Christian organisations.
The CD-ROM, entitled A Time to Hope,
features video clips of popular Christian musicians and sports personalities
talking about their faith. Many of them describe how the Bible has helped
them deal with the events of September 11. The CD-ROMs also contain the
full text of the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs, and audio tracks
by popular Christian groups. These Scripture resources encourage
the reader to link the noble themes that we admire about the Olympics
with Scripture, said Davyd Hepburn, ABS Sports Consultant. (WR 367/19
