UBS appeals on behalf
of Palestinian children and families
READING, England — The Palestinian
Bible Society is to spend a total of US$95,700 on three programs
aimed largely at children affected by the growing violence in the Palestinian
Territories. The UBS Rapid Response Reserve is to make available US$50,000
to ensure that the work can start as soon as possible, but national
Bible Societies are being requested to make donations to meet the full
cost. UBS General Secretary Neil Crosbie paid tribute, when announcing
the appeal, to the “courage, faithfulness and dedication of Bible Society
staff and volunteers” in the Palestinian Territories. Labib Madanat,
Executive Secretary of the Palestinian Bible Society, emphasised the
organisation’s desire to convey the hope contained in the Word of God
to the Palestinian people.
