Distribution at Commonwealth Games

England — The British and Foreign Bible
Society (BFBS) was among the partners of the interconfessional organisation
More than Gold in initiatives designed to spread God’s Word
at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester between July 25 and August 4.
BFBS planned to supply 20,000 copies of
a special sports edition of the Contemporary English Version of John’s
Gospel. Particular features of this edition included special colour pages
about faith and sport and a message from triple jumper Jonathan Edwards,
the patron of More than Gold. BFBS Commercial Director Ashley Scott
called on all Christians to pray for the More than Gold mission
teams as they prepared to collaborate with churches and para-church organisations
in ventures including canteen stations and nightly prayer meetings. (WR
