MAPUTO, Mozambique — The Bible Society in Mozambique responded rapidly to the train crash in Tenga, around 30kms (20 miles) from Maputo, on May 25 in which at least 192 people died. The Rev Valente Tseco, Executive Secretary, visited survivors in Maputo Central Hospital (above) with the Rev Dinis Matsolo, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM), and representatives of the CCM Women’s Fellowship. The visitors distributed 200 copies of the Portion You Matter, which emphasises that each person is important and loved by God. There are also plans to distribute Scriptures in the Tsonga language to the victims, most of whom can read Portuguese but who said that they would like to receive material in their own language.
