BSA asks for prayers and makes free distribution

CANBERRA, Australia — The Bible Society in Australia (BSA) has asked the United Bible Societies fellowship for prayers for all Australians as they come to terms with the bomb attacks which took place in Bali on October 12.

The bombs were placed outside the Sari Bar, which is exclusively for foreign visitors and attracts many young Australians. Bali is a particularly popular destination with Australian sporting groups, and several football clubs have more than one team member missing or confirmed dead. In total, more than 200 Australians are missing or confirmed dead, while more than 150 have been seriously injured.

A National Day of Mourning for all Australians will take place on Sunday, October 20. It is hoped that all churches will place particular emphasis on the comfort and hope found in the Scriptures. The BSA has organised a free distribution of Scriptures to chaplains, ministers and other Christian workers who are involved with the victims and their relatives, and is calling for prayers for its staff, for chaplains and for other Christian workers as they seek to reach out with God’s love to the Australian people.
