Portion goes into ChineseNEW YORK, United States — The American Bible Society (ABS) has published a Chinese-language edition of its Scripture Portion God is Our Shelter and Strength. The booklet, featuring Scripture passages intended to relieve distress and anxiety, was distributed in large numbers after the attacks on the United States of September 11, 2001. Also available in English and Spanish, it forms part of the Society’s Project Constant Hope program. “With situations like the prospect of war [in the Middle East] and terrorism, this should be helpful,” said Doris Yong, Manager of Asian Ministries for the ABS. “The Chinese immigrant community has felt the impact of the crises over the past year just like everyone else.” New York’s Chinatown was one of the lower Manhattan communities most directly affected by the attacks on the World Trade Center.
