Bible to guide addicts to recovery

UNITED STATES — UBS has published a Spanish version of the famous Life Recovery Bible, a guide for the emotional and spiritual recovery of young people and adults with problems of addiction.

Biblia Renacer contains the Reina-Valera translation of 1960 plus additional texts based on the Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step programme.UBS is hoping its success will match that of the English original developed by publishers Tyndale House.

Biblia Renacer is aimed in particular at the Christian ministries that work in prisons and run programmes to help addicts. In addition to the Reina-Valera text, it also contains:

  • 12 steps towards emotional and spiritual recovery
  • Biblical devotions designed to aid recovery
  • Outlines and introductions to each book
  • Thematic reflections on most books
  • Profiles of biblical characters and lessons about recovery in their lives

An edition will also be available containing just the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.

The first copies of Biblia Renacer went on sale on the stand that UBS and the American Bible Society had at the Christian bookfair EXPOLIT 2005, held in Miami in May. (WR 394/9 - 07.05)
