ITALY — The Pope accepts a copy of the Panoramic Bible from the Rev Makoto Watabe, General Secretary of Japan Bible Society. The special Bible was published last September to commemorate the 130th year of Bible work in Japan. Devised by the Society and designed to deepen the reader’s understanding of the Bible, it covers both the Old and the New Testaments and includes pictures, photos, timelines, and explanatory notes as well as about 200 passages of Bible text. The Pope was also given a copy of the Japanese New Interconfessional version of the Bible, produced by the collaboration of the Catholic and Protestant Churches in Japan to commemorate the 40th anniversary, last year, of Dei Verbum. Information about the Panoramic Bible can be found on the English-language web site of the Japan Bible Society http://www.bible.or.jp/e/index.html. [ITA06DJ-17] (WR 404/24 - 08.06) [1 photo]
